Chris King - Freelance Illustrator and
Graphic Designer
Better known simply as ‘Wing’ amongst
my friends and colleagues thanks to a childhood nickname
that’s stuck, i’ve been working as a freelance
illustrator and graphic designer for over 14 years.
Working from my studio near Bristol, UK,
I’ve come to specialise in traditional brush, pen and ink
illustration combined with digital and vector elements, with
work featured in Computer Arts magazine, Photoshop Creative, Disorder Magazine, Martin
Dawber’s ‘The Big Book of
Fashion Illustration’ as
well being published around the world in a popular series of
children’s novelty & pop-up books. Other pieces of my
work has found it’s way into the entertainment,
advertising and packaging industries but my real passion is for
designing gig, burlesque and event posters.
My inspiration is drawn from past masters
to contempary artists as Drew Struzan, Norman Rockwell, J.C.
Leyendecker, Alex Ross, Dave Stephens, Will Eisner, Jack Kirby,
Gill Evergren and Ralph Bakshi, Coop!, Frank Kozik just to
mention a few.
When not at the drawing table you’ll
find me at the movies, listening to movie soundtracks (with
some grunge, metal, Jazz & funk thrown in), reading and
obsessing over the fact that i’m not drawing.
I’m available for hire on a
freelance basis and happy to discuss, provide estimates and
samples on request.
